  Emerging from the new wave scene of the late 1970’s, The Fixx pioneered a sound unlike other acts of their time.  The band brought about a pop rock powerhouse that was embraced by nearly everyone.  Remember their sophomore effort Reach The Beach?  Who doesn’t?  That album was overflowing with catchy hooks and memorable lyrics, and they have been at it ever since.  With hits like “One Thing Leads To Another” and “Saved by Zero”, it’s no wonder these guys are so successful. 

    Lead vocalist, Cy Curnin, explains their inherent connection as a group…“The melodies that Jamie comes up with are incredible. He is always creating bits and pieces, then I come in and get a feeling for a word, or an emotion, and it starts to take shape. We get something we can play as a group. Then, it just takes off like it has wings. Rupert is almost like a mad scientist, wherein I can describe where I am going visually with my words and he paints the sound. Dan has amazing chord knowledge and is able to play around my voice in ways that makes it sound rife with emotion. And Adam just isn’t a convoluted drummer. He’s very careful and laid back, which is big part of our sound.”

    There newest album Beautiful Friction, has generated plenty of buzz and rave reviews from the music community.  Clearly, The Fixx is doing something right and playing sold out shows across the US this Fall 2012.  Make your way to the State Theatre on September 1st because these guys don’t disappoint.
