Get ready for A Night of Blazing Boogie Woogie Blues. The Annual Tinner Hill Blues Festival’s opener will feature three acclaimed boogie woogie pianists who will set the stage on fire!

Kenny “Blues Boss” Wayne is a powerhouse whose music runs the gambit from stride piano to contemporary blues with influences from New Orleans jazz, funk and healthy dose of R n’ B.  About.Com said he’s “…a soulful vocalist and an electrifying performer, mesmerizing audiences with his spirited barrelhouse-styled key-pounding and flamboyant stage clothing. Think of a cross between Fats Domino and Professor Longhair and you'll be in the right ballpark.”

Born in the USA, “Blues Boss” now makes his home in Vancouver, B.C. This  renowned international artist was named the 2010 Living Blues Piano Player of The Year, received a Juno award for Blues Album Of The Year and was a Blues Foundation nominee for the Pinetop Perkins Piano Award.

Deanna Bogart, a multi-instrumentalist and singer who has toured the world, is a constant delight.  Regardless of the venue - small clubs, major music festivals and the Legendary Rhythm and Blues Cruise – fans know that she’ll give them her all.  She combines the best of boogie woogie, contemporary blues, country and jazz into a splendid blend she calls “blusion.”  It has earned her three consecutive Blues Music Awards for Horn Instrumentalist of the Year and more than 20 Wammies.

Deanna has performed at several Tinner Hill Blues Festivals and, to the delight of Blues lovers, Deanna appeared with the late Sista Monica Parker and her band in 2013.  We are pleased that she’ll be part of this year’s festival on its opening night.

Daryl Davis’ résumé is impressive – pianist, guitarist, singer, composer, actor and writer - and the list of musicians with whom he’s performed is a Who’s Who of Blues and Rock & Roll greats.  To say that his playing is intense and captivating is an understatement.  Regarded for his searing Blues and pounding, energetic boogie-woogie piano, Daryl is always in great demand, locally and around the world.

In addition to recording with a multitude of artists, Daryl has performed at numerous clubs and festivals including several Tinner Hill Blues Festivals and fundraisers. We are delighted to have him at this special event and look forward to A Night of Blazing Boogie Woogie Blues.

The Tinner Hill Heritage Foundation was founded in 1997 to preserve the early civil rights history of Falls Church and vicinity. The goal of the organization is to raise awareness of the history, contributions and achievements of African-Americans in the development of Falls Church City, Fairfax County and the United States. In keeping with that goal, each June, the Tinner Hill Heritage Foundation and the City of Falls Church host the Annual Tinner Hill Blues Festival, the only 3-day event in The Little City.

The annual festival is a tribute to legendary Piedmont guitarist John Jackson. Check out more here.
