For their fifth album, the Athens-bred/Nashville-based power trio the Whigs wanted to find the exact midpoint between raw and rehearsed. After more than a decade together-during which they've released four critically lauded studio albums and toured constantly as either headliners or openers for the likes of the Drive-By Truckers, Kings of Leon, and MGMT-the three members all agreed that they wanted to flex their muscles a bit: write some good songs, get them down as tight as possible, hit, and tear s@*!% up. The Barons:
"imagine Chuck berry and the early stones had a kid that grew up in the joshua tree listening to brandon flowers cover songs from kings of leon's 'aha shake heartbreak'."

Raw, catchy rock and roll you can’t help but dance along to, The Barons (formerly The Kairos Effect) arise from Charlottesville, VA featuring frontman Peyton Alley, lead guitarist Josiah Ragland, drummer Tyler Morris, and bassist Kirtland Gray. Under "TKE", the band built a solid following since 2013 going on three US tours mainly drawing in the college crowds and playing major 50,000+ festivals throughout their home state. Towards the tail end of Spring 2015, the band released two singles as a Digital 45, ‘Hands On’ and ‘Crown’ with Sony producer Micah Wilshire out of Nashville, TN. “Hands On” brought on much playtime through XL102 out of Richmond, VA then spread throughout their home state stations, while both tunes also received excellent reviews through inFontana and other independent music critics.

The band now seeks to reach a broader audience in 2016 releasing new singles 'Rattle' and 'Light Up' with Wilshire yet again out of Blackbird Studio (Kings of Leon, Jack White, etc.) in Nashville, TN. The Barons have also made another mark in 2016 opening for Catfish and the Bottlemen on their "The Ride" Album Tour. iHeart Media Talk Show Host, Jeff Katz, quoted The Barons opening set as "one of the best sets I've ever heard".
