Known for spreading the gospel through a style a music characterized by its dark sound, Stryper is recognized as the first Christian heavy metal band to gain recognition in the mainstream music world. Comprised of Michael Sweet (vocal/guitar), Oz Fox (guitar), Tim Gaines (bass) and Robert Sweet (drums), Stryper has been rocking since 1983 and is responsible for 80's classic albums such as 'Soldiers Under Command', 'To Hell with the Devil' and 'In God We Trust'.
Their latest album 'The Covering' is a collection of twelve cover songs from bands that have inspired and helped shaped Stryper's sound including Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Led Zeppelin and Kansas. Returning to the State Theatre on September 21, the quartet will play selections from 'The Covering' and of course, all of the expected hits.
